Emily's dancing career started at the age of five at South Metro School of Dance in Atlanta where she won the title of "Pee Wee Dancer of the Year" her first year of performing. She then moved on to Carla's Dance Factory in 1984 where she trained in tap, jazz, ballet, pointe and lyrical for eight years focusing primarily on tap. Emily was on both the Jr. and Sr. company teams where she competed and won numerous awards at national competitions such as Rising Star, Showstopper, Showbiz and Star Systems. Emily also performed at several local events and charities such as the Coca-Cola Oktoberfest, Fayette County Independence Day Parade and Georgia Power Forum Show. She also won first place several years in a row performing at the Kiwanis Club talent show in Fayette County.
Once Emily was in high school, she was on the dance team where they went each year to the Universal Dance Association camp. Her freshman year she won the "Universal Dance Star" award and her team was invited to compete in the national competition held in Orlando, Florida. Junior year Emily was a co-captain and helped choreograph dance routines for performances and competitions.
Emily is still taking dance classes today and is very excited about teaching for MDC in the fall!
