Born in Houston, Texas, Pamela began ballet classes with Margo Marshall and performed with Greater Houston Civic Ballet. During the summers throughout high school she trained with many world-renowned teachers such as Anne Marie Holmes, Robert Joffrey, David Howard and many others in New York and Europe. Upon completion of her academic studies, she joined Boston Ballet as a corps dancer and was promoted to soloist six years later. While at Boston Ballet, she toured throughout the world dancing in many countries such as Italy, Belgium, England, France, China, Mexico, Israel and Hong Kong as well as several cities in the United States. Pamela performed many roles in her career including Sugar Plum Fairy and Snow Queen in Nutcracker, Myrtha in Giselle and Lilac Fairy in Sleeping Beauty. She especially enjoyed Balanchine ballets such as Serenade, Concerto Barocco, and Rubies. After performing professionally for thirteen years she retired to start her family with husband Devon Carney, who was at that time a principal dancer with Boston Ballet. They now have two children, Lauren and Ryan.

Pamela has taught ballet her whole professional career, and since retiring, at many schools. In Boston, she taught at the Boston Ballet School, Walnut Hill School and at the Boston Ballet Summer Program to name a few. Since moving to Cincinnati in 2003, she has been teaching at Mason Dance and the Otto M. Budig Academy of Cincinnati Ballet.
