~predance combo classes

Our PreDance Combo Classes are for our youngest students, ages 3-6.  These are a combination of pre-ballet and creative movement in Tippy Toes; pre-ballet, pre-tap, and some basic acro in Kidlets and Kidance.

Kintergarten students may also choose Hippity-hop or Musical Theater Minis.  1st-2nd-3rd graders move to our Minis or Petites classes in Ballet, Tap, Jazz along with Hippity-hop or Musical Theater Petites.

~open division classes

We offer Open classes in ballet, tap, jazz, acro-dance, lyrical and hip-hop.  Dancers are placed in class according to age, ability and previous training level.  Teacher evaluation will determine student's level and placement.  Age requirements for Open classes vary as noted on our schedule but basically are for students first grade through adult.

~performance/competition groups

MDC has 5 levels of groups who compete and have additional performance opportunities for the 2022-23 season.  Our Sparkle Squad and Little Gems are entry level groups with extra performances opportunities including the Nutcracker and our Performance Groups Showcase.  Gems also perform throughout the community at events and Senior facilities.  We will have Company Prep level Amethyst and Opal groups competing in jazz and musical theater and may be invited to add lyrical.  Company Prep level is a bridge between Gems and Company.  At full Company level our Rubies, Emeralds and Sapphires dancers all compete in jazz, musical theater and lyrical.  Our upper Company Diamond level dancers compete in jazz, musical theater, lyrical and Modern/contemporary.

Dancers 4th grade and up can also choose to audition for tap and hip-hop groups.  Along with the additional performance avenues comes commitment to take more technique and ballet classes.  Our groups attend regional competitions 2-3 times per year as well as perform in our Performance Group Showcase, community performances and being part of our Spring recital. Placement is by audition.  Our auditions were held May 31 & June 1.  Details can be found on our Intensive dancers page.

All our Performance Group and Pre-Pro dancers are part of our holiday Nutcracker benefit performance.

~preprofessional ballet program & competitive ballet groups

For the more serious ballet student we offer a PreProfessional ballet program.  A major part of ballet is the discipline involved with the art form.  Within this program there is a more defined dress code and code of etiquette than in our Open Division classes.  To achieve success in any PreProfessional ballet program, a student must be an enthusiastic, dedicated dancer willing to work hard, apply the corrections given and always move forward with their technique.  These students have the opportunity to perform in our holiday Nutcracker performance in addition to our year end recital.  To extend their movement base our upper level PrePro students also have instruction in Modern dance technique.

Our upper level PrePro students have the opportunity to also audition for our competitive ballet groups, Ballet Troupe and our Dance Theater of Mason. Our Dance Theater of Mason (DToM) group is our upper most Pre-Pro group.  DToM focuses on pointe and neo-classical choreography.  DToM will attend the Youth America Grand Prix as well as the OhioDance Festival. Our auditions for the 2022-23 school year were held on May 14. If you missed that date, let us know and we will try to accommodate you at another time. Audition information for our PrePro ballet and ballet performance groups can be found on our Intensive Dancers page.

~adult classes

We always try to have at least 1 or sometimes 2 adult classes on the schedule.  They vary from year to year and have included ballet, hip-hop, jazz, tap, Pilates, Zumba and Barre-lates, our own combination of barre fitness and Pilates mat work.  Check this page for our current options.  Tuition for our adult classes is a little different from our other classes.  Classes can be paid by the week at $15. Or you can purchase a 6 class card for $80; 10 class card for $120.

~mini camps & mini-mesters

Throughout the main session we try to offer a variety of one day mix & match mini-camps for dancers 4-8 yrs.  We also have a few mini-mesters in the winter or spring.

~summer classes

During the summer we offer a short sampler of classes.  For the summer of 2022 we will have 2 three week sessions, in June-July.  We will also have a variety of camps and intensives offered.

~private and semi-private lessons

Private and semi-private classes are available by special arrangement with our individual instructors.  The fees run $30-$50 per half hour and are paid to the studio. Students may take dances learned in private lessons to competitions at the instructor's discretion but only if they are also taking at least one weekly dance class in their discipline to keep up with their technique.  Private lessons alone are not adequate to maintain or advance technique.  Dances learned in private lessons are not guaranteed a spot in our main recital but may be invited to perform in our Performance Groups Showcase.  Only our graduating Senior students may be invited to perform their solos in the main recital.

Priority registration for Students enrolled in our 2022-23 session began Saturday, June 25.

Registration will OPEN to ALL starting Thursday, June 30.
